Guwahati, Aug 4: In a major step towards accelerating relief and rehabilitation efforts, the Assam government will launch a statewide door-to-door assessment of flood damage from August 9, aiming to identify losses suffered by affected families and ensure timely assistance.
The survey will cover flood-hit households across affected districts, with government teams visiting homes to assess damage to residential buildings, household belongings, crops, livestock and other essential assets.
Officials said the exercise is designed to create an accurate, ground-level database of losses, enabling the government to provide compensation and rehabilitation support in a transparent and efficient manner.
The state administration has instructed district authorities to complete the assessment in a mission mode, ensuring that no affected household is left out of the verification process.
The initiative comes as Assam continues its recovery from the recent floods, which inundated vast areas, displaced thousands of residents and caused widespread damage to infrastructure, agriculture and public property.
Authorities believe the house-to-house survey will help speed up relief distribution, strengthen rehabilitation planning and support the restoration of livelihoods in the worst-affected regions.
The government has urged residents to cooperate with survey teams and provide accurate information to facilitate the timely processing of relief and compensation claims.
